UC Football begins off-season workouts

 UC Football begins Off-season workouts
While each student across campus is nestled in his or her bed asleep and dreaming at 5:30 a.m., the four-time defending Mid South Conference Champs are hard at work to keep that title.
The University of the Cumberlands football team has achieved great succcess on the field, but what goes on behind the scenes? The Patriots are in the weight room at 5:30 three mornings every week this offseason along with conditioning in the IM Gym in the afternoons in preperation for next fall in pursuit for their fifth consecutive conference crown.
When asked how the workouts were helping the team, starting strong safety and MSC All-Conference Honorable Mention Troy Arnold said it sets the tone for the season. “It really shows you who is committed,"says Arnold, “and everyone is getting stronger.”
The Patriots have never had a more successful stint than in the past five years, and as the  next season creeps closer and closer it brings with it brings excitement and anticipation each day.
Sophomore defensive back Stepehen Wells knows the team is very excited to get back on the field. “Everyone is very excited to get the season underway, and winning a fifth straight title would be a great testimony of how hard we work and for the coaching staff as well," said Wells.
The Patriots strive to be in full swing when the season begins in August and carry that over with a deep run into the playoffs with all their hard work. “Getting deep into the playoffs this year is a thing everyone on the team is working toward and are hoping to achieve,” said Wells.
March will bring spring practice for the Patriots and with that comes more hard work that must be put in to remain on the top. So for now the weight room and gym will have to do until the team can take the field for spring practice.
